From a hole in the wall to the sky’s the limit

Inner Real Estate began in 2008 on St Kilda Rd in 32 square meters of space with Joe Cimino and one part-time staff member. Joe had no connections or experience of the inner city marketplace, but a burning passion for real estate. Starting from the ground up, he worked hard to build Inner Real Estate, paving the way for all who later joined him.

All in the family

Anthony Cimino came on board in 2011. At that time, the team had just moved into an office on Albert Road, about 80 square meters. From there, IRE grew to a second and a third office in that same location. The current office is 330 square meters with 14 staff and 850 properties under management, plus a thriving owners corporation division and sales department.

A time of transformation

Michael Cimino joined IRE in 2016 from a corporate transformation background. Building on strong foundations, Michael led an 18-month change program to take the business to the next stage. This included going fully cloud-based and farewelling the server at a reception that required daily hard drive backups.

This growth mindset and future thinking characterize the Inner Real Estate team. By embracing change and the opportunity to operate more efficiently, everyone has benefited. Streamlined systems and processes have further strengthened the personalized client experience and saw IRE thrive during the global pandemic.

Looking to the future

Anthony and Michael acquired Inner Real Estate in July 2019, to evolve the business from the traditional property management and sales model to a full-service agency. As they continue to think about the future, both acknowledge the central piece to their business – people.
